Crop video online
Cut off the edges of the frame: keep a square, a vertical or any area and remove what you don’t need — someone else’s logo, black bars, a passer-by at the edge. Right in your browser, nothing is uploaded.
How to crop a video
Add a video
Drop the file onto the page or choose it on your computer — it opens in the editor.
Choose a format
Square, vertical, horizontal or as in the original — whatever the video should become.
Place the crop box
Place the frame over the part you need and drag its corners.
Fill the frame and export
The selected area fills the whole frame — download the finished video.
Crop or resize?
Both change the shape of a video, but in different ways: cropping cuts off the edges, resizing keeps the whole picture.
Crop
The edges of the frame are cut off and the area you chose stays. Stretch it to the whole frame and everything in it gets bigger.
Best when there’s clutter at the edges or you want to zoom in on the subject.
Resize
The frame format changes but the video stays whole: a blurred copy or a color fills the empty space around it.
Best when nothing in the frame can be lost — say, a horizontal video in a vertical Reel.
What cropping can do
A box in the shape you need
Square, vertical for Reels and TikTok, the Instagram feed format or your own frame. Move it right on the video, and the grid helps you compose a nice shot.
Remove clutter at the edges
Cut off someone else’s logo in the corner, black bars, the edge of a tripod or a passer-by at the very edge — only the part of the frame you need stays.
Zoom in on what matters
Bring the main subject closer — as if the camera moved in. For a strong zoom, video shot in 4K works best.
When it comes in handy
A square for a post
Keep the 1:1 middle of a horizontal video for the feed or a product card.
Vertical when the subject is off-center
Put the 9:16 box where the person is, not in the middle of the frame, and turn horizontal footage into a Reel.
A screen recording without clutter
Cut off the taskbar, browser tabs and the second monitor — keep only the window you need.
A video with black bars
Crop away bars burned into the picture and stretch the image to the whole frame.
A close-up from a wide shot
Cut a close-up of the speaker out of a wide shot — your interview or podcast looks like it was filmed with two cameras.
Horizontal from a vertical video
Keep a horizontal part of a vertical clip for YouTube or a presentation.
Questions and answers
How do I crop a video to a square or a vertical?
Choose 1:1 or 9:16 and place the frame over what matters — it fills the whole frame.
What’s the difference between cropping and trimming?
Trimming removes time: the start, the end or a piece from the middle. Cropping removes part of the picture at the edges, and the length of the video stays the same.
How do I remove black bars from a video?
Crop the video along the edge of the picture so the bars stay outside the box, then press Fill frame: the image takes up the whole frame.
Will the quality drop?
No: the video is exported in high quality. With a strong zoom the picture gets softer, so for that it’s best to start with video shot in 4K.
Can I crop just part of a video?
Yes: split the clip and crop only the piece you need — the rest of the video stays the same.
Which formats are supported?
Video: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and more; audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG; images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF. Export: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, GIF, MP3, M4A, WAV and Ogg.
